Strategy vs Tactics

In business, one of the worst things that you can do is confuse tactics for strategy.

Many people like to use them interchangeably and they shouldn’t.

Why?

Because people have given up on something simply because the tactics don’t work out.

However, when you understand the system, then tactics are nothing more than things you try to see if they work best within your system.

Confused yet?

Let me explain.

For us, there is just one System of Business. The system is pretty easy.

  1. Get them to notice you.
  2. Get them to pay attention to you.
  3. Get them to trust you.
  4. Convert that trust into money.

That’s it.

Every single business in the world falls under this system. There are no exceptions.

Understanding this system then helps you to figure out different tactics that you can use.

For example, let’s say someone is telling you that TikTok is how you build a 7-figure business and so you eagerly buy their program on TikTok, implement everything, and it just doesn’t work out for you.

What happens?

You either go looking for another silver bullet or you quit because you think that maybe this business thing isn’t for you.

But if you take a step back and look at the System of Business and just view TikTok as a tactic to get people to notice you, get people to pay attention, and get people to trust you, then you can figure out how to make better use of the TikTok tactic.

Or you can say fuck it and try a different platform.

A failed tactic isn’t a failed business.

A failed system is a failed business.

It’s why so many people continue to chase tactical silver bullets.

Pinterest not working? Better try SEO. SEO not working? Better try YouTube.

Next thing they know, they’ve spent $20,000 on tactics training without seeing if they have everything in place to make sure the System of Business is being implemented.

It’s why we can both try to reach the same audience and you might have success on Instagram while I have success on YouTube. It’s not the tactic itself that makes us successful.

It’s how well we apply that tactic to implement the system.
