When I was 23 I started my first online business. At 24 I was offered $150,000 in funding for a 30% stake to help it grow.
I ended up selling the company a couple years later for less than half of that.
Since then I’ve been going on and off about building online businesses. I have not doubt that in the past 17 years (yes, I’m 40 as I write this) that I’ve lost out on millions of dollars simply because of…well, lots of different reasons.
Why am I telling you this?
Because I want your sympathy?
Not at all. I’m telling you this to let you know that if anyone should have regrets about what they’ve done in business it should be me.
But I have none.
It was obvious that I am where I am today because of the decisions that I’ve made. I’ve made these decisions because at the time it was what I wanted.
How can I regret that?
Never build your business with the fear of regret. The only fear you should have is not taking chances on things just because you have an unfounded fear that they might not work out the way that you want.
You’ll just end up holding yourself back and nobody wants that for you.
There are no regrets in business building. Only decisions.
And those don’t always work out but that’s the game.
