Sure I talk about personal finance, budget, frugal living, and how to be better with money on this site but my #1 rule for money management is to make extra money.
This rule applies no matter what.
If you have a 9-5 job your aim is to make more money through either promotion or a new job (lateral promotion).
If you don’t have a job then maybe it’s time to start your own main hustle (think side hustle but it’s not on the side).
No matter what, in this day and age, you should probably be looking at ways to bring in more cash every month unless you are already sitting pretty.
This post is for those not sitting pretty already.
This post is for those that know how far another $1,000 will take them.
7 Simple Ways to Make an Extra $1,000 Each Month at Home
The Internet has opened so many different opportunities to make money.
This makes it sound like a scam but it really isn’t.
Most people don’t make extra money through the Internet because they simply aren’t aware of the options. If they knew then they would be all over this stuff!
The goal of this post is to find ways to help you make extra money without any training, new education or spending a ton of money to get started.
Do You Follow Your Passion?
I am going to say something a little bit controversial here: when it comes to making money, following your passion isn’t the way to go.
Sure you could point out a couple of success stories where someone followed their passion and made it big but if that hasn’t happened to you yet then you need to switch gears in the short term.
Sometimes we hold ourselves back waiting around for our chance to follow a passion.
If you spent that time building up extra cash through other means then that would make it easier to pursue any passion you want.
You can either make money now or spend time trying to find a way to make money with your kitten mittens.
The choice is yours.
1. Take Online Surveys
Probably the easiest way for you to make extra cash online.
Taking online surveys only requires your time.
How do they work and why do they exist?
How Do They Work?
You sign up for a service that offers surveys.
When a survey becomes available to you (some surveys are filtered by criteria) then you take the survey and earn a small amount of money.
This is usually between $5-$15 and they take around 15 minutes.
That isn’t too bad.
Why Do They Exist?
I would never pay people to take a survey so why do these services even exist?
Because companies need to do market research and instead of having people stand outside a store with a clipboard, it’s much easier to do everything online.
Where to Find Them
There are a number of online survey websites but not all of them are created equal.
Some don’t pay cash and instead pay you in rewards. They might be giftcards or some other form of “payment” so make sure you read each site carefully.
Here is a list of survey sites that I’ve used and have no problem recommending:
2. Start a Blog
I make over $10,000 a month from blogging and I absolutely love it.
So what do you need to do?
Well, the answer to that question is a lot more than can fit in this simple blog post but if you want to learn more about making money from blogging check out my Ultimate Guide to Blogging.
It’s free and it’s awesome.
3. Do Some Freelance Writing
Websites need content and they don’t usually hire a ton of full-time writers.
Instead, they pay people (you) to write content for them.
Before you go off thinking that you need to be a professional writer to pull this off that is far from the truth.
With a bit of patience and practice, anyone can produce content that someone is willing to pay for.
If this sounds like something you’d want to give a try then check out 67+ Extraordinary Paid Writing Opportunities.
4. Install Cell Phone Apps
This is something you already do.
There are companies that will pay you to install apps on your cell phone and leave them there.
The apps can usually be found running in the background tracking your spending and purchasing habits in the name of research.
This is the most passive way to make money that I can think of.
So what apps are out there that do this?
- Nielsen Digital Voice App:
- Smart Panel:
- Media Insider Panel:
5. Get Paid to Test Websites
You already know that almost everything is done online now.
That means that companies can provide online experiences that do not produce results.
To ensure that their design is easy enough for their audience to use they perform user testing.
Just like with the online surveys, you can’t just wait outside a store and ask people to run through a site so they hire other companies to collect people and run the tests for them.
If you want to find out which sites are the best ones to use then check out these 9 sites that will pay you to test websites.
6. Use eBates or Swagbucks for Your Online Shopping
This one actually requires you to spend money to make money.
If you really want to be technical, and you look like the type, you are actually getting money back.
This is not a way for you to make money but a way for you to cut down on the costs of things you were going to buy anyways.
All you have to do is sign up for these services and they will provide you with rebates on certain things that you buy.
You can sign up for eBates here and Swagbucks here.
7. Become an Online Transcriptionist
Did you know you can earn up to $24/hr by transcribing audio to text?
This requires you to be a decent typist if you want to make money but if you can handle your way around a keyboard then this is something to look into.
It’s not too often you can make $0.40/minute just by sitting down at a computer and typing away.
Plenty More Ways
There are way more ways to make an extra $1,000 a month.
This post was simply meant to show you some of the easiest and most popular ways that don’t require much knowledge to get started.
Making extra money at home with the Internet isn’t a silly pipe dream. People pay others to do specific tasks. Sure the people paying you make much more from you doing the tasks but that’s how work will always be.
You exchange your time for money.
Eventually, at some point you will want to make your own money for your own time and that is why I started the Billionaire Blog Club to help teach you how I make over $10,000 a month online doing things that I enjoy.
It’s not that I needed to learn how to save money, it’s that I needed to learn how to make more of it.
I wanted the freedom of being able to choose my own hours and where I worked.
I didn't want to stress about money in the bank or if I had enough money to do something with my wife.
So I started a blog...
I’m sure you already know that there are a lot of things you need to learn to make money with a blog and you might be knee deep in your 3 year journey of research.
What if you didn't have to research? What if you didn't have to deal with theories?
What if you didn't have to buy 13 separate courses to get the big picture?
There are a lot of people that make good money teaching bloggers how to make money with their blogs. Their courses cost a pretty penny.
You buy one and then you have to buy the next one to learn the next thing. If they don't teach the next thing after that then you have to find someone else that does teach it and pay for that.
That's a lot of money and a lot of time.
Screw that. I am taking a different approach and putting everything under one roof for one price for you.
More importantly it comes with an awesome community attached to it that is filled with bloggers just like you looking to help each out.
It's called the Billionaire Blog Club and I think you should check it out.
Don’t Learn One Thing. Learn Everything.
In the Billionaire Blog Club (how can you not love that name?) I show you the exact steps I take to build successful blog after successful blog.
I am not talking about building a blog teaching others how to make money (although if you want to go that route, that's cool), but blogs in the other (there are others?) big niches that might feel more at home to you.
It's time to stop treating your blog like a hobby or an experiment and treat it like a business that will allow you to earn the freedom you know you deserve.
What will you learn?
Here is a snapshot of a blog I launched. This is the first 20 days of the blog’s existence:
Over 77,000 pageviews in the first 20 days!
This is no fluke. Look at this two month comparison of another one of my blogs:
If you're unsure of what you are looking at let me explain. The orange line represents all of the traffic for October 2016. The blue line represents all of the traffic for November 2016.
In October 2016 the site received a total of 9,456 pageviews.
In November 2016, when I started to implement the Pinterest Overload Technique, the site received 129,677 pageviews.
That is an increase of over 1271%.
Not too bad.
This is just ONE of the things you will learn.
The longer you take to stall the longer you will take to reach your goals.
