When I was little I was a dreamer. I would always dream of the magical things that were suddenly going to fall into my lap.
I remember when I was about to turn 16, I would dream about getting a car. However, I knew my parents couldn’t afford to get me one so I imagined that my grandparents would give me their Jeep Grand Cherokee.
That’s right. Out of the goodness of their heart they were just going to give me their car.
I never asked them.
Nobody ever talked to me about it.
For some reason I just dreamt it would happen.
I didn’t happen.
I didn’t get my first car until I was 21 and ironically, it was a Jeep Cherokee. No “Grand” though.
Up until I was about 30 I stopped dreaming like this. It’s not that the dreaming was bad, it was that I never took any action to even imply that the dream deserved to come true.
Now I call those dreams ‘goals’ and I take action to make them happen.
I think some people get too caught up in the dream life, but dreaming is fine. Dreaming is actually good when you take note of what you continue to dream about.
If you keep dreaming about a new job then you want a new job. What are you going to do to get it?
If you found a Genie lamp and you had one wish, what would that wish be for yourself? Would perfect world would you conjure up with that wish?
Do you have it?
Now go out and start planning the steps to make it happen.
